The Parade Post Office, in Pound Hill was a finalist in the Better for Customers category at the Post Office’s ‘We’re Stronger Together’ regional awards for the South East region.
The awards recognise the efforts made by postmasters across the region to keep branches open during the Covid-19 pandemic and serving their local community. The great work by Postmistress Parul Vaidya and Manager Nikki Sharma who run The Parade Post Office, was highlighted last night by Post Office Chief Executive Nick Read.
Postmasters who operate branches in the South East region had the opportunity to share their experience of running their branch during the pandemic and hear directly about the Post Office’s future growth strategy
Post Office Area Manager Steve Leddy, said: “The team at The Parade Post Office were nominated for the Better for Customers award for keeping going when their staff numbers were reduced during the coronavirus pandemic. Parul and Nikki kept the Post Office running for 14 weeks with the help of Parul’s husband, Amit. In spite of this they decided to embrace customer feedback as a way of motivating themselves and have built their branch’s reputation as a consequence. The team are often on a first name basis with customers and this branch is very popular in the area.”
Nick Read, Chief Executive at the Post Office, said: “I have heard many inspiring stories of postmasters going the extra mile and I have welcomed the opportunity to hear first-hand how postmasters in the South East have fared during the pandemic including The Parade.
All retailers have been affected and Post Office was no exception. The next few weeks and months will be a critical period as we try and return to a sense of normality. Post Office branches have a vital role to play in supporting their customers and communities, as well as helping small businesses and independent retailers get back on their feet.”

I have always found them the best at customer service. I have been self isolating for almost 5 months now and have not be to the parade in a while. I will be back soon. I hope!
I use to work with Nikki and Parul , it does not surprise me of their hard work and devotion, Nikki is the best manager you could wish for, if it hadn’t been for illness I would still have been there, I wish this post office everything they are superstars xx
Really great news. Amit and Parul have done an amazing job and gone that extra step for customers. We were shielding and for 13 weeks one or other of them hand delivered my daughters Beano every Wednesday! Really appreciated in difficult times when we couldn’t get out. Congratulations!

Am so happy they have been Awarded they have worked so hard over the last few months and going into the store to do my post office always happy to see me and always friendly I really deserve this in my eyes of the best post office in our area couldn’t be any helpful for enough . Well done to Nikki she worked so hard too and was in work every day even thought she had kids at home she could do with a weeks holiday thank you from the bottom of my heart to them 3 musketeers
