Like alot of you, I welcomed the news broken this morning, that the covid cycle lanes would be removed, however it seems that is not quite the case…. Not yet, anyway.
The lanes have caused uproar amongst most residents, and a petition was created by me for WSCC to remove them, and look at better solutions for the towns cyclists.
This morning, the news was broken that West Sussex County Council had agreed to remove these after being lobbied by our MP Henry Smith.
However, having spoken to our local County Councillor (Chris Oxlade) it would seem that this is not yet true.
“No decision has yet been taken on the Crawley scheme – but one is due to be taken this week.”
“The only decision taken to date is for Chichester (to remove the scheme). That decision has been called in and so is being referred to the scrutiny committee.”
We wait.. With baited breath to see if any decision is made soon.

Today I came out of Grattons Drive and it took me 20 minutes to get to the traffic lights before the railway station. This is ridiculous. Please remove the cycle lanes urgently.
