Several community centres will be open as ‘Winter Warmers’ from next week to help residents who cannot afford to heat their homes or are just looking at ways to reduce their bills.
The council’s Cabinet agreed to set up six Winter Warmers – in community centres in Bewbush, Broadfield, Furnace Green, Ifield West, Langley Green and Tilgate – at its meeting last night (Wednesday 23 November).
Winter Warmers will provide warm, comfortable spaces for residents to visit. Visitors to Winter Warmers can spend time in a heated location, have free hot drinks and receive advice on the cost of living and wellbeing.
Opening hours vary but some centres will be open between 9am and 8pm. The full list of Winter Warmers for the week commencing 28 November is:

Councillor Michael Jones, Leader of Crawley Borough Council, said: “Our plan provides comfortable spaces for residents and allows them to stay warm without paying for their heating at home.
“Energy prices are the biggest concern in the cost of living crisis so our Winter Warmers go some way to helping ease that burden as we enter the colder months.
“It is worth recognising the scale of what the council is doing. As we mobilise, it is possible we may face further challenges given how ambitious our plans are, but please bear with us. An up-to-date list of what’s happening will always be on our website.”
