I’ve been contacted by the organisers behind Most Wanted Crew, who are the car enthusiasts who occasionally meet up in Crawley and surrounding areas.
They wanted to respond to the press release from Crawley Council, which can be viewed here.
“Here at MostWanted we consider ourself a family more then friends, we started most wanted simply to help with the mental health of being locked down and not being allowed out. We have spent alot of time working on our cars and we like to share them with others and with our friends.
Everytime we host a meet we kindly ask it’s kept static, we tell all our members to please keep it down and throw their rubbish in the bin. We have a lot of police presence, they do turn up, have a conversation with us about reports of speeding, donuts and loud exhausts, we are never fined and no further action is taken because the cars are turned off and parked strictly static.
We are have had several meetings with the police and always have done to try and resolve the issues everyone is facing. If we are parked in sainsburys and another car comes through with a loud exhaust unconnected to our group we do get painted with the same brush.
The PSPO order was put in place for some very good reasons, I don’t particularly believe them reasons still stand, we are not like groups before us and we understand people are sleeping have kids and jobs, a majority of our members have kids jobs and need to be up early.
We have had a few select members of the community come at us with abuse and harressment even going so far as to release our names and addresses on the Internet, it’s so sad to see that this hobby is considered a crime, we have nothing against crawley police, they are just doing their jobs but with 3 false reports a night to sainsburys even we understand why they turn up but it’s taking time away from them to deal with real issues like knife point robbery or generally patrolling the streets, instead they are dealing with people in a car park parked statically.
We’ve always been open and accepting if anyone who has any concerns or frustrations and wants to try and resolve it in a adult like manner please come down and ask for DP And Mark we are more then happy to express our feelings and understand the feelings of others.
