On Monday this week, i shared an old petition from 2018, the petition called for a statue of Gareth Southgate to be erected in Crawley, to honour our sporting hero!

I shared the petition, simply to create a bit of buzz for the game, during these still very uncertain times, i think we all need a bit of hope!
Since me sharing the petition, the local papers and radio stations have all covered it, calling for it to happen! (Just google Gareth Southgate Statue)
I was not expecting a tongue in cheek post, to create such a media frenzy, and i know it’s been met with some opposition, to clarify, i’m simply looking to get Gareth the recognition i feel he deserves from the town, be that a plaque, a small sculpture, or a MASSIVE 150FT HIGH angel of the north kind of thing!
Imagine something this size on Cheals roundabout!
In closing, Gareth is a son of Crawley, and we should be very proud of that fact!
